So why is this here then?

This is a page devoted to the screw-mount Yashica SLRs of the 1960s and 70s and the sharing of information about them.   It is an attempt to concentrate as much information as possible, since it seems to be rapidly evaporating.

So who am I?

Just an owner of six Yashica screw-mount cameras.   I bought my TL Electro-X in 1972 when I was just out of high school, about the same time my grandmother bought a TL Electro, which I've since inherited. More recently (October 1998) I've picked up a TL, a TL-E and an Electro AX from Pacific Rim Camera.  Since then (December 1998) I bought a J-5 as a parts camera from Luebs & Son Photo.   Over the summer of 1999 I've picked up a Yashinon 75-230mm f/4.5 zoom, a Takumar 28mm f/3.5 and a Minolta Scan Dual film scanner.

What's here?

What you see, plus whatever you send me that I can put here.   I'm looking to complete the missing model information, and I'm looking for more service information.   I'm interested in owner's accounts of how they fixed a particular problem with a particular camera, and I'd like to complete the assembling chart collection for the screw-mount models.   Got a manual for one of these models?   Email me the specifications table (scan and send an image if you want).   Better yet, if I can borrow it or a photocopy I can (time permitting) OCR or type it in and put it online.

What am I selling?

Nothing.   This is a strictly non-commercial site, done as a hobby and a public service.   For one thing, it's easier to find free web space that way. :-)  This site was on Freespeech.org for a few years, then I moved it to UMass when I started working there in 2000, then webs.com when UMass laid me off in 2009. I'm retired now, so as soon as I get my house built and DSL connected I'll move this to my own server.

Yashica's Battery Charts page (old link - doesn't work anymore. I've got the info somewhere)

Other pages at this site:

Some TL Electro-X information
A listing of Yashica screw-mount models
Dealers where I have found Yashica screw-mount cameras and lenses in the past
Some other Yashica models made in 1969
A chronological listing of models and features.

Any information you think should be here is welcome.   Please email me.

No, those film cassettes aren't real.   They were done in Pov-Ray.
